Question. How many things are necessary for thee to know, that thou, enjoying this comfort, mayest live and die happy?
Answer. Three: First , how great my sins and miseries are (Rom. 7;24); Second , how I may be delivered from all my sins and miseries (Matt. 11;28); Third , how I shall express my gratitude to God for such deliverance (Ps. 116;12).
Proofs.
- [proof-1] Rom. 7;24.—O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?— Rom. 3;23; Rom. 6;23.
- [proof-2] Matt. 11;28.—Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.— John 3;16.—John 1;12.
- [proof-3] Ps. 116;12.—What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits towards me?—2 Cor. 9;15.—Ps. 50;15.
