Heidelberg Catechism

Question. Did God then create man so wicked and perverse?

Answer. By no means, but God created man good, and after his own image (Gen. 1;27), in righteousness and true holiness (Eph. 4;24) that he might rightly know God his Creator, heartily love him (Col. 3;10) and live with him in eternal happiness, to glorify and praise him. (Isa. 43;7).

Proofs.

  • [proof-1] Gen. 1;27—So God created man in his own image; in the image of God created he him.— Gen. 1;31.
