Q. 108. What doth the seventh command teach us?
Question. What doth the seventh command teach us?
Answer. That all uncleaness is accursed of God, and that therefore we must, with all our hearts, detest the same (Eph. 5;3), and live chastely and temperately, whether in holy wedlock, or in single life (Heb. 13;4).
Proofs.
- [proof-1] Eph. 5;3.—But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not once be named among you, as becometh saints.— Jude 22, 23.—Lev. 20;10.
- [proof-2] Heb. 13;4.—Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.—1 Thess. 4;3, 4.—1 Cor. 7;9.
